Sintrones IBOX-604-G2-ONX8 NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB Drone Computer with 2x GMSL

The IBOX-604-G2-ONX8 is the Orin NX 8GB model in the Sintrones IBOX-604-G2 series, a drone computer that pairs Orin NX compute and 8 GB LPDDR5 with two GMSL-2 camera inputs and CAN FD. Rated to 55 °C, it suits UAV and robot vision where the deployed model is known to fit in 8 GB.

  • NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB: 1024 CUDA cores, a 6-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU and 8 GB LPDDR5 give Orin NX inference for known, well-sized vision models.
  • -25 °C to 55 °C Operation: Rated from -25 °C to 55 °C with 0.6 m/s airflow, the 8 GB Orin NX build has five degrees more headroom than the 16GB model.
  • Dual GMSL-2 Camera Capture: Two GMSL-2 inputs on FAKRA connectors carry camera video into the Orin NX module for low-latency onboard processing.
  • 2.5GbE and GbE Networking: A 2.5GbE port on an Intel I226-IT controller and a GbE port from the module separate drone-system data from LiDAR or sensor traffic.
  • CAN FD, Serial and UART: CAN FD, an RS-232/422/485 port and a 3.3 V UART sharing the CAN connector talk to autopilots and drone control systems.

IBOX-604-G2-ONX8 Overview

Survey, inspection and mapping drones often run a vision model that is already sized and tested, so the useful question is how much compute it needs rather than how much can be carried. The IBOX-604-G2-ONX8 is the Orin NX 8GB model in the Sintrones IBOX-604-G2 series, a drone computer in a 120 x 115 x 32 mm aluminum enclosure with a net weight under 339 g.

The NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX 8GB module combines 1024 CUDA cores with a 6-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU and 8 GB of LPDDR5, running NVIDIA JetPack 6.2 or later with Jetson Linux and the NVIDIA development tools. Where models or camera pipelines need more memory, the IBOX-604-G2-ONX16 moves to Orin NX 16GB in the same enclosure, and the IBOX-604-G2-ON8 covers lighter work on Orin Nano.

The IBOX-604-G2-ONX8 takes two GMSL-2 cameras on FAKRA connectors. A 2.5GbE port on an Intel I226-IT controller links the drone system, while a GbE port from the module serves LiDAR or a high-resolution sensor. CAN FD, an RS-232/422/485 port and a 3.3 V UART connect flight controllers, and two USB 3.2 ports suit a GNSS receiver or other peripherals. Storage is an M.2 2242 NVMe SSD, with an M.2 Key B slot and dual SIM for WWAN and an M.2 Key E slot for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus a USB Type-C port for system recovery.

Power arrives at 10 to 60 V DC on a 3-pin terminal block with over-current, over-voltage, surge and reverse-polarity protection, ignition detection and smart power management, matching 3S to 14S lithium battery systems. The drone computer operates from -25 °C to 55 °C with 0.6 m/s airflow and is tested to MIL-STD-810H Method 514.8 vibration and Method 516.8 shock, so the IBOX-604-G2-ONX8 suits mobile platforms. A built-in 3-axis accelerometer reports movement and orientation, and Sintrones lists CE, FCC Class A, UKCA and IEC 62368-1 compliance.
