TAA-Compliant NVIDIA Jetson: Country of Origin and Part Numbers Explained
For defense and sensitive industrial programs, the country of origin of an NVIDIA Jetson module decides whether it can be used. Here is what TAA compliance means, which Jetson part numbers qualify, and how we source compliant modules into your bill of materials.
The Short Answer
For defense and sensitive industrial programs, the country of origin of an NVIDIA Jetson module decides whether it can be used. TAA compliance means a module is made in the USA or a designated country, and for Jetson that comes down to the specific part number and where it was built. We source TAA-compliant Jetson modules and include them in the bill of materials for rugged mission computers and embedded systems supplied to defense contractors.
What TAA Compliance Means
The Trade Agreements Act (TAA) governs what the US government can buy. In practice it requires an end product to be wholly made or substantially transformed in the United States or a TAA-designated country. It is distinct from the Buy American Act, which sets US-content thresholds; many programs specify TAA compliance for commercial-off-the-shelf electronics.
For an NVIDIA Jetson deployment, that turns a hardware decision into a sourcing decision: which part number, made where. Our FAQ covers what TAA compliance means in full.
TAA-Compliant and Non-Compliant Countries
TAA-designated countries include the USA and a defined list of trade partners: WTO Government Procurement Agreement members and free-trade-agreement partners. Several major electronics-manufacturing countries are not designated. NVIDIA builds Jetson modules across four of them.
| Country | TAA status | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Compliant | Designated country |
| Taiwan | Compliant | WTO GPA member |
| China | Not compliant | Not a designated country |
| Vietnam | Not compliant | Not a designated country |
So two units with the same model name can differ in compliance purely by where they were built. For the wider picture, see which countries are TAA compliant.
How Country of Origin Works for Jetson
NVIDIA assigns a unique part number to each Jetson SKU, and the same model can be produced in more than one country. The model name, for example Jetson AGX Orin 64GB, does not tell you the country of origin; the part number and the physical module do.
The only reliable confirmation is the country of manufacture laser-etched onto the module itself, which is what a compliance officer or auditor will check. A determination made from the box or the model name alone will not hold up under audit.
TAA-Compliant Jetson Part Numbers
NVIDIA assigns dedicated part numbers to the US-built and Taiwan-built variants of several Jetson modules — the SKUs to specify when a program requires TAA compliance. The suffix tells you the build: a standard part number ends in -000, while the TAA-compliant US variants carry an -0A0 or -0A1 suffix and the Taiwan variants an -0T0 suffix.
| Module | Standard part number | TAA-compliant variant |
|---|---|---|
| Jetson AGX Orin 64GB | 900-13701-0050-000 | 900-13701-0050-0A0 (USA) |
| Jetson AGX Orin 32GB | 900-13701-0040-000 | 900-13701-0040-0A0 (USA) |
| Jetson AGX Orin Industrial 64GB ECC | 900-13701-0080-000 | 900-13701-0080-0A0 (USA) |
| Jetson Orin NX 16GB | 900-13767-0000-000 | 900-13767-0000-0A1 (USA) |
| Jetson Orin NX 8GB | 900-13767-0010-000 | — |
| Jetson Orin Nano 8GB | 900-13767-0030-000 | — |
| Jetson Orin Nano 4GB | 900-13767-0040-000 | — |
| Jetson AGX Xavier 64GB | 900-82888-0050-000 | 900-82888-0050-0T0 (Taiwan) |
| Jetson AGX Xavier 32GB | 900-82888-0040-000 | 900-82888-0040-0T0 (Taiwan) |
| Jetson AGX Xavier Industrial | 900-82888-0080-000 | 900-82888-0080-0A0 (USA) |
| Jetson Thor T5000 128GB | 900-13834-0080-000 | 900-13834-0080-0A0 (USA) |
| Jetson Thor T4000 64GB | 900-13834-0000-000 | 900-13834-0000-0A0 (USA) |
The standard part numbers (suffix -000) have a variable country of origin and cannot be assumed TAA compliant — the standard AGX Orin 64GB, for example, may be built in China or the USA. Where a dedicated US or Taiwan variant is not offered, such as on the Orin Nano and Orin NX 8GB, we confirm the country of origin against the module marking and document it for your audit.
Industrial vs Commercial Modules
- 01Operating lifetime
- Industrial Jetson modules carry a longer guaranteed production life — ten years on AGX Orin Industrial — which suits long-life defense programs.
- 02ECC memory
- Industrial variants add error-correcting memory for data integrity in critical applications.
- 03Temperature range
- A wider operating temperature range suits rugged and outdoor deployments.
- 04The trade-off
- Industrial modules cost more, and are specified where lifecycle, integrity, and environment justify it, not by default.
How We Source TAA-Compliant Jetson
For defense contractors and sensitive industrial programs, we source TAA-compliant Jetson modules and include them, with their part numbers and country of origin, in the bill of materials. They go into our rugged Jetson mission computers and embedded systems, built for the environment and the compliance requirement together.
Because we own the bill of materials, we confirm the country of origin against the module marking and document it for your audit, rather than leaving you to verify a part after it arrives. If you are also weighing which module to standardize on, our guide to choosing a Jetson module walks the lineup.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What Is TAA Compliance?
TAA compliance means a product is wholly manufactured or substantially transformed in the United States or a TAA-designated country, as required by the Trade Agreements Act for many US federal and defense purchases. It is about country of origin, not US content levels, which is what the separate Buy American Act covers.

Which Countries Are TAA Compliant?
TAA-designated countries include the United States and a defined list of trade partners: WTO Government Procurement Agreement members such as the EU, USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, plus free-trade-agreement partners. Major manufacturing countries including China and Vietnam are not designated, so products made there are generally not TAA compliant.
